We are very pleased to announce that Goalkeeper of the month for October 2025 is Zammo
Zammo is a dual centre Keeper who has been with us for approximately 5 years and started on a Friday night at one of our previous centres, Dormston. If anyone remembers the TV series Grange Hill from the 1980s, his nickname came from the character Zammo there who he looked very much like!!
Zammo has always been a very strong brave young keeper but with a lot to learn on the technical side especially when he first joined us. He has always been extremely helpful and polite and puts an incredible amount of effort into the sessions, also encouraging others and taking all coaching points on board.
Over the years Zammo continued to work hard and moved up the ranks and in the 2022-2023 season he won “most improved player” award, which was a great achievement.
It was also recognised that Zammo had leadership skills that could be developed. He often took ownership of looking after new Keepers, arrived early to help with the equipment and led by example, so was given”Young Leader” status. In the first year of gaining this status in 2023-2024 he won Young Leader of the Year award which was another great achievement.
Zammo can sometimes be low on confidence in certain aspects of his game, but during the month of October he has been absolutely outstanding with his technique in sessions, his presence and ability in shotstopping drills and also his organisational skills with the running of warmups and setting up of pitches. Throughout October he has been voted up by his coaches in virtually all of the sessions he has worked in both centres.
This award is very well deserved. Keep up the excellent work Zammo – congratulations from everyone at GDS.
